Mikel Arteta has suggested to Football London that Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka looks highly unlikely to play against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

Saka has picked up an injury after coming off the bench for Arsenal in their game against Leeds United at the weekend.

The youngster, who was labelled as ‘brilliant’ by Robin van Persie (Metro), has not travelled to Norway tonight, with Arsenal in Europa League action against Molde.

There was hope that Saka would recover back in North London, while the rest of his teammates featured tonight.

But Arteta has suggested that Arsenal will be without the 19-year-old at the weekend, which will be a major blow.

“It’s very doubtful [that he’ll be back for the weekend],” Arteta said.

“We have a few players in contention. He’s been in a lot of pain for the last few days so I cannot say today that he’s going to be fit.

“We’ll have to assess what happens the day before the game against Wolves.

“But we have other players fit and whether he’s fit or not, we’ll try to find the right solutions for our attacking players to prepare for the game against Wolves.”

Saka’s absence against Wolves will hurt Arsenal, if he is out, as he is already one of their most creative talents.

Arsenal were much improved after Saka was introduced against Leeds, and he looked their biggest attacking threat.

The Gunners have struggled going forward all term, and with Saka sidelined, their task of forging opportunities is only set to become harder.
