Speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, David Seaman has claimed that Everton’s Jordan Pickford is a better goalkeeper than Kasper Schmeichel.
Seaman knows a thing or two about being a goalie, and while Schmeichel is a Premier League and FA Cup winner, Seaman believes that Pickford just about edges it between the pair.
What’s been said?
Seaman was speaking about Wednesday’s game between England and Denmark, and as you can imagine, the Arsenal legend was asked to compare the two goalkeepers.
Seaman says that Pickford is slightly better than Schmeichel at this moment in time.
“I’ve got to say Jordan, but Kasper has done it for a long time, Jordan did it in the World Cup,” Seaman said.
“But that’s a difficult one, it reminds me of when Martinez came in at Arsenal, and I had to say that Martinez had only done it for the last part of the season, whereas Leno did it season after season, and with Kasper you have a player who’s done it season after season under a load of pressure because of who his dad is and how good his dad was, but with Jordan, you have a player who’s getting better and better, and there’s not a lot to choose between them, but I think Jordan just pips it, but it’s very close,” Seaman said.

Important battle
It’s up for debate as to who is the better goalkeeper, but one thing is for sure, Pickford vs Schmeichel is going to be an important battle at Wembley on Wednesday.
Pickford is yet to concede at this tournament, while Schmeichel has played a vital role in getting Denmark this far, and they’re both set to play vital roles again in the semi-final.
England fans will certainly be hoping that Seaman’s analysis is correct, especially if the game heads for a dreaded penalty shootout.
