Simon Jordan has been speaking to talkSPORT about Liverpool and Manchester City, and he made a big claim about Pep Guardiola.
What’s the story?
Well, Jordan worked out that Guardiola has spent roughly three times as much money as Jürgen Klopp during his time in the Premier League.
Every Premier League point earned by the Spaniard has cost Manchester City £667,000, whereas Klopp has spent £243,000 for every point he’s won at Liverpool.
After making that revelation, Jordon then said it was “unarguable” that Guardiola is a chequebook manager, who relies on spending money.
The 53-year-old said: “If you take the time they’ve been together, the fact of the matter is that every single Premier League point that’s been won by Guardiola has cost Manchester City £667,000.
“Every point that’s been won by Liverpool under Klopp has cost Liverpool £243,000. So Guardiola has spent almost three times the amount of money that Klopp has spent. Guardiola is a chequebook manager. It’s unarguable!”
There you have it. Claiming that Guardiola is a “chequebook manager” is Jordan’s opinion, although the numbers cannot be argued with.
It is a fact that Manchester City have spent ridiculous amounts of money to achieve what they have, whereas there’s certainly a more organic feeling to Liverpool’s success under Klopp.
Liverpool have done well to compete with Manchester City

In our view, the rest of the Premier League should be thankful to Liverpool for keeping things interesting and not letting Manchester City walk to the title.
Guardiola has spent almost £1bn on signings since arriving at Manchester City in 2016, which is astounding.
Just like when Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund made life difficult for Bayern Munich, the German has been a thorn in Guardiola’s side in England.

To spend £667,000 per point is, in our view, ridiculous, and not many sides would be able to compete with spending like that.
Thankfully, despite spending a third of that sum for every point of their own, Liverpool have stayed in touch with the Citizens.
Hopefully, the Reds can take them all the way in the title race once again this season.
