Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has dropped a further hint that he is planning a clear out ahead of the summer transfer window, on the club’s official website.

A whole host of Arsenal players have been linked with a departure from the Emirates Stadium recently.

The likes of Joe Willock, Hector Bellerin, David Luiz, Eddie Nketiah, Dani Ceballos and Reiss Nelson all face uncertain futures in North London.

And Arteta has suggesting that many of his current Arsenal squad may now be playing their final games for the club, offering a further hint at the change up which is being planned.

“I don’t want to think like that,” he said, when asked if the Europa League was the last chance for many players at Arsenal to win silverware for the Gunners.

“I want to think they always have the hunger to win any competition that they’re involved in. It’s true for some players that this might be the last season for different reasons and I can see how much it means for them.

“How much they want it and hopefully, we can do that tomorrow.”

Arsenal are set to take on Villarreal later this evening, as they look to overturn the deficit in the second leg.

Arsenal went down 2-1 in Spain last week, but their away goal does provide them with reason for optimism.

Regardless of how tonight’s match goes, Arsenal’s need for a clear out has been obvious and Arteta’s desire to offload a number of players can hardly be argued with.

Arsenal have badly disappointed domestically this term, and if they are to progress up the Premier League table next season then they will need an injection of quality in the transfer window.
