Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Romania winger Florinel Coman from Steaua Bucharest, the player’s agent Giovanni Becali has told Fanatik this morning.

With the future of Wilfried Zaha once again dominating the headlines, it only makes sense for Palace to prepare for life without their wantaway talisman.

The Eagles have been linked with a whole host of potential replacements in recent weeks, from Ryan Fraser to Bright Osayi-Samuel, Gerard Deulofeu to Ismaila Sarr.

And there is now a new name in the frame – albeit one who is something of an unknown on English soil.

Producing 15 goals and 11 assists in 40 games this season, Coman appears to share that explosive pace and dead-eyed end product with his Bayern Munich-based namesake, with those performances catching the eye of a Palace side crying out for an injection of youthful exuberance.

“It is true that we proposed Florinel Coman at Crystal Palace, and now we are waiting for their answer,” says Becali, the winger’s agent and the cousin of Steaua president Gigi.

“The move depends on some details, but it is being discussed. We will see what decision the people from Palace make.”

Giovanni was unwilling to discuss the finances involved but, speaking to ProSport this morning, the soundbite-spitting Gigi was as outspoken as ever.

Coman, he says, will not be leaving Bucharest for a penny less than £13 million.

This is not the first time Becali has made some rather eyebrow raising comments about perhaps the most exciting Romanian footballer in a generation either.

“If Florinel plays there is no way you can lose a match,” he told Pro X last year. “He is not Mbappe, he is Neymar.”
