Alberth Elis is in talks to leave Ligue 1 strugglers Bordeaux amid interest from Premier League high-flyers West Ham United, the striker’s agent tells Diez.
Les Girondins have scored more goals this season than seventh-place Nantes, more than reigning champions Lille and as many (38) as a Nice side sitting pretty in third.
Clearly, Bordeaux’s problems are not located in the final third.
If their defence was as strong as their attack, a side who lifted the French top-flight title as recently as 2009 would probably be entrenched comfortably in mid-table right about now.
But the fact that Bordeaux have a goal difference of minus-30 – despite scoring an impressive 38 goals in 28 league games – tells it’s own story.
Will Alberth Elis end West Ham’s striker search?
Between them, Elis and South Korean hitman Hwang Ui-Jo have found the net 19 times in 2021/22.
As such, it would be a major surprise if either Elis or Hwang are still Bordeaux players when next season kicks off. Following Sunday’s 3-0 thumping at PSG, relegation now feels like a case of ‘when’, not ‘if’.
According to FootMercato, Fiorentina are Wolfsburg are keen on Elis. As are a West Ham United side who have spent the last 14 months scouring the market for a new number nine.
Monaco are also eyeing him up.

And while Elis’ agent was reluctant to give too much away regarding the identity of his client’s suitors, he did admit that talks regarding a summer departure from the Matmut Atlantique are very much underway.
“It’s true,” explains Daniel Solis. “I can’t say names, but yes.”
Elis, recently the subject of an £18 million bid from a Chinese club, was heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs 12 months ago. Including West Ham.
Elis’ father, meanwhile, admitted that his son dreams of a future on English soil.
