Jamie Carragher told the Monday Night Football Club on Sky Sports that he loves the ‘courage’ from Leeds goalkeeper, Illan Meslier.
Former England shot-stopper, Rob Green, was waxing-lyrical about Meslier’s talents and his ‘impeccable’ first touch when playing out from the back for Leeds.
At the age of, 21, Meslier is proving to be a top talent and someone who can reach the top of the football food chain if he continues to improve.
But whilst Carragher shared that he ‘admires’ Meslier’s ‘technical ability’, it’s the ‘courage’ that he shows on the ball that he also appreciates.
Green first added: “His ability on the ball is up there with the best – He is expected to play out from the back. His touch is brilliant. It happens time and time again that his first touch is impeccable.”
“It’s not just the technical ability that I admire,” said Carragher. “It’s the courage, isn’t it? For such a young goalkeeper.”

The one obvious flaw in Meslier’s game is his handling. Leeds have an obvious problem from dead-ball situations, as was proven once again during their defeat at West Ham.
It would help immensely if Meslier was able to claim his catches, rather than be uncertain about coming out or punching the ball.
But he’s only a young kid and he has years in his locker to perfect that part of his game because it’s the only major issue in his game, at the moment.
