Emerson Royal has stated that Dele Alli’s dress sense at Tottenham is ‘strange’ to him, as he told Pro: Direct Soccer.
The Spurs summer signing is still trying to find his feet at his new home and he named Alli as someone who is the worst dressed.
Emerson, who comes from Brazil and is used to sunnier climates, was signed by the club from Barcelona after spending a number of years in Spain.
It has been a mixed start to life in North London to the right-back, in the sense of the language barrier, performances and getting used to new life in England.
Nonetheless, this is what Emerson said when asked about the players’ fashion sense at his new club.
“There are some of them who dress a little different because it’s colder over here,” said Emerson. “But I like summer clothes better.
On who is the worst dressed, when Alli’s name is mentioned Emerson turns his head away: “Dele Alli is a player I always see arriving with a style a bit different.
“A bit strange At least it’s strange to me. I don’t know whether it’s normal here.”
This is a big few months for Dele under Antonio Conte because if it goes wrong here then he might find himself out of the door.
Some may feel that a man of Conte’s standing, where he demands beyond 100%, is something that Dele needs in order to pick up his career.
But the same was said when Jose Mourinho was handed the keys to the club, only for things to gradually get worse for the goalscoring midfielder under the Portuguese.
And there are so many chances manager’s will give a player that has been on a downward spiral for a number of years now.
