
Vinai Venkatesham has reportedly personally apologised to Arsenal players at a behind-the-scenes meeting at London Colney following the botched European Super League fiasco.
According to The Mirror, the Arsenal chief executive sat down with Mikel Arteta on Wednesday and apologised to the first-team squad.
The Gunners were one of six Premier League clubs that stunned English football last Sunday by announcing their intention to break away from UEFA and compete in a privatised European Super League, fronted by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Even the Arsenal players were kept in the dark but The Mirror claimed that Venkatesham explained to the players at the club’s training ground yesterday that the North Londoners – and the other 11 clubs – were bound by confidentiality agreements.
Gunners fans are set to return to the Emirates Stadium on Friday, but as a protest against owner Stan Kroenke.
And some Arsenal supporters on Twitter believe that Kroenke, and not Venkatesham, should be the one explaining what went wrong.
