Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports revealed that Danny Rose is set to leave Watford this month.

What’s the story?

Well, Sky Sports believe Rose has been told by Watford that he will not play again this season – he has also been placed on the transfer list.

It comes after the 31-year-old made seven Premier League starts for the Hornets this season, under both Xisco Munoz and Claudio Ranieri.

Sky Sports do not make it clear whether Watford’s decision is a measured one, or a reactionary move based on something that has happened.

However, there’s no denying that it’s a sad situation.

After being released by Spurs – without a testimonial despite his 14 years of service in N17 – the left-back was signed by Watford, where he looked to be rebuilding his career.

However, the England international now finds himself back at the drawing board, as his time at Vicarage Road appears to be over.

Tottenham should offer Danny Rose a role

Now, before you accuse us of being overly sentimental, there is logic to this statement.

In his final days at Tottenham, Rose was forced to train with the Under-23 side by José Mourinho, where he seemed to make a big impact on the club’s young prospects.

Academy coach Samuel Peter Cox took to Twitter after Rose was released, where he made sure to credit the defender for his work with the Under-23 side.

Tottenham prospect Elliot Thorpe also thanked Rose for his efforts, claiming that it was “sad” people couldn’t see what he was really like behind the scenes (Football London).

Clearly, Rose is a respected figure among the Tottenham Under-23 side, so we see no reason why Spurs can’t offer him some work in that environment.

For now, let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about the situation at Watford…
