Ian Wright has suggested that he has been quite sad seeing Gareth Bale play for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wright Show, which was broadcast on Optus Sport, the Arsenal legend spoke about how excited he was when Bale rejoined Tottenham this summer.
However, the Welshman hasn’t quite made the impact many were expecting at Spurs.
And Wright has been shocked by just how much Bale seems to have regressed.
“It’s sad to see, because I was really excited about him coming back,” Wright said.
“I didn’t expect him to be like he was when he was there before, but I expected for somebody who has spent that much time with Cristiano Ronaldo that he would adjust his game around that last third, you know get yourself into places like I saw him do against Burnley, when he was brilliant.
“I genuinely thought he was coming and I know they were talking about him wanting to get fit for the Euro’s, which is not a problem, but I genuinely thought there would be more energy about him and it’s been quite disappointing.”

Bale was actually enjoying his best spell at Tottenham, just before the international break.
The Real Madrid loanee has netted six goals in as many games.
However, the 31-year-old failed to make an impact as Spurs went out of the Europa League against Dinamo Zagreb after being brought off the bench, and then Mourinho left him out entirely against Aston Villa.
There are now doubts over whether Bale will be given many more starting chances once again, as Spurs went on to beat Villa without him.
Tottenham are next in action in two weekends’ time, when they take on Newcastle United, and it will be interesting to who Mourinho opts to pick in his attacking line-up.
