It looks like Loris Karius may finally be leaving Liverpool quite soon.
Karius hasn’t kicked a ball for Liverpool in any competition since 2018.
His error-laden performance in the Reds’ Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid three years ago remains his most recent outing under Jurgen Klopp.
According to The Mirror, the Anfield side are set to terminate the goalkeeper’s £100,000-a-month contract on Merseyside.
Karius is at Liverpool now after failing to secure a loan move away during the summer.
But Klopp and Michael Edwards look set to dump him in January, six months before his contract officially expires.
And here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to this development:
Sad
Karius has had two different loans away from the Premier League side since that performance in Kiev against Real.
He has represented both Besiktas and Union Berlin, and would’ve joined Basel this past summer but The Mirror added that he wasn’t prepared to take a wage cut to join the Swiss outfit.
With Alisson, Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher ahead of him in the pecking order under Klopp – and perhaps even teenager Marcelo Pitaluga – there is no sense in the 28-year-old sticking around.
As one Liverpool fan pointed out, it is sad to see what he’s become at the club, having ousted Simon Mignolet as Klopp’s number one during the 2017-18 campaign.
But the writing was on the wall for him back in 2018 and only now does it look like his career in England is done for good.
