Arsenal fans are confident that they will sign Albert Sambi Lokonga after the latest development in his transfer.
The Athletic and HLN both report that Arsenal have had an offer for Lokonga rejected, but they are just £4 million away from meeting Anderlecht’s asking price.
The Belgian side are said to be willing to part company with Lokonga.
And Arsenal fans are growing increasingly confident that the 21-year-old is going to join them now, as they are so close to striking a deal.
A big step up
If Arsenal were to sign Lokonga he could add leadership to their side, and still has time on his side.
Lokonga wears the captain’s armband for Anderlecht, and has impressed over the past season.
He would be making a sizeable step up by moving to the Emirates Stadium, though.
It is not yet clear if Arsenal would plan to make Lokonga a starter on his first season, or would ease him into life in North London gently.
Lokonga’s arrival would also throw Joe Willock’s future into further doubt, as he would increase the competition for places in midfield.
