Mikel Arteta has admitted to Arsenal’s official website that it is ‘rare’ to see three players settle together as quickly as Gabriel, Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White have.

Settling in quickly

It was put to Arteta at his latest press conference that Arsenal’s back-line right now could end up being their defence for the next decade.

Gabriel, White and Ramsdale are certainly young enough to last for another 10 years at the top level.

And the Arsenal boss did say that he was very happy with the progress they have made.

He said: “Obviously their age, how they complement their qualities and as well the chemistry that they are building it’s really important and it’s rare to see it that early, but they are enjoying playing together and this is something really important and we have to keep evolving, not only with them, but with every player that is involved in those positions.”

Gabriel, White and Ramsdale have all embraced the defensive side of the game at Arsenal.

For too long in recent times, Arsenal have been accused of being a soft touch.

That simply hasn’t been true this season, although their last outing, perhaps, wasn’t the strongest.

Bouncing back

Arsenal were downed 4-0 by Liverpool last weekend but, that game aside, their back-line has been very solid.

Arteta’s men had travelled to Anfield on the back of a 10 game unbeaten streak, which has seen them make significant strides up the table.

The hope is that their display at Liverpool will just be a one off and they will get back to showing their defensive resilience again quickly.

Arsenal are back in action tomorrow when they take on Newcastle United and White, Gabriel and Ramsdale will all surely be set to start.
