The Tottenham Hotspur ace has suffered horrendous luck with injuries over the past year or so.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s comfortable 3-0 FA Cup win over AFC Wimbledon yesterday, and shared how important it was for Erik Lamela to get 90 minutes of competitive football under his belt from a psychological aspect, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London.
The Argentine winger has been nursed back to full fitness by Pochettino, having been absent from action for around 13 months, after suffering and injury against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in October 2016.

Lamela’s quality is beyond question, however, and if the Tottenham coaching staff manage to get him back to somewhere near his best, he will seem like a new signing for the club, and could have a huge influence on their chances of success this season.
Pochettino spoke to the media after his side’s FA Cup triumph, and explained why it was so important for the 25-year-old to play the entire game yesterday, as quoted by popular football news website Football.London:

“I think it’s important for him and Victor to feel 90 minutes in their legs. It’s so important. For Erik and Victor it’s so important to feel like you can cope with 90 minutes. That is so important psychologically in this aspect.”
Next up for the Lilywhites is a Premier league game against Everton at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, but whether Lamela will be ready for the full 90 again remains to be seen.
