Former Arsenal man and current Aston Villa goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium is his favourite away ground, as he told Ben Foster’s YouTube channel.

The Copa America winner, who donned Arsenal colours for over ten years, labelled Tottenham’s stadium as ‘proper’.

Martinez would have had mixed emotions playing at Spurs, both winning and losing in Villa colours.

Whilst the north London club produce indifferent results on the pitch, it can’t be argued that off-the-field of play, their facilities are on another planet.

Martinez likened it to playing ‘in a final’, as fans of his former club, Arsenal, won’t probably like him bigging up Tottenham in such a manner.

“I have got to say Spurs away,” said Martinez. “More than a stadium. It looks like you are playing NFL.

“You go away there and it’s massive dressing rooms. It’s like you are playing in a final. It’s proper.”

Given that a stupid amount of money was spent on Tottenham’s new stadium, you are going to expect it to be bigged up by those who use it.

Whilst everything, in that respect, is all rosy for Tottenham fans, they probably want success to be matched on the pitch.

That hasn’t happened for a number of years, from not winning the league title since the ’60s, the FA Cup in over three decades, no Champions League/European Cup to their name and their last trophy being the League Cup in 2008.

But, with Antonio Conte now in the north London dugout, the Spurs fans will be hoping all of that changes sooner rather than later.
