Sergio Aguero has tipped Manchester City to become the first English club since Manchester United to win the treble made of the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.
Speaking on his official Twitch channel, the former FC Barcelona striker revealed his opinion that City have what it takes to win the treble, a feat only one English club has ever achieved in the history of football in the country.
City remain the only club to win the domestic treble, however, the Champions League still alludes the Manchester giants, with Pep Guardiola’s side losing in the final last year to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Indeed, only a handful of European clubs have ever won the treble consisting of the Champions League, domestic league and domestic cup, yet for Aguero, City have the quality on and off the pitch to make this extraordinary dream a reality.
Aguero said: “I think City are in a great position to win the league again, and they have a good shot at the FA Cup and the Champions League. It will be competitive, but I think it’s possible to win the treble. Winning the treble would be a great achievement.”
The retired Argentine attacker added: “They [City] have a team and a manager who can do that this season. At City, we wanted to win everything, every game and every cup, and that will always be the case at the club now.”
Aguero is right to believe City can win the Champions League amid treble claim

The treble is by all accounts the end goal of club football. A team achieving the legendary achievement will forever be immortalised in the pantheon of iconic teams, and for City, they could join this exclusive club this season if they can clinch the Champions League.
Indeed, the Premier League and FA Cup are likely to land with the blue half of Manchester this season, and Aguero is right to suggest that City can also bring the Champions League to the Etihad for the first time in their history.
City and Guardiola know that European glory is the main aim for this season, yet with the FA Cup and Premier League also on the cards, a treble topped off with the Champions League is more than possible for the Cityzens.
