Tyler Roberts wrote on his Instagram story that ‘it’s past silly’ after Liverpool had a goal chalked off during their 2-1 win against Aston Villa on Saturday.
When Liverpool were losing the game 1-0, Diogo Jota was adjudged to have been offside following a ball over the top from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leeds have all had their issues with VAR this season. The champions yesterday, Ollie Watkins at the London Stadium and Patrick Bamford at Crystal Palace, to name a few.
At the end of the day, Liverpool produced a late comeback to secure all three points and that might just dampen the anger from the Merseyside camp.
And whilst many aren’t surprised by such calls being made, it is still leaving many perplexed.
The issue lies with the fact that every team is suffering from such offside calls that, to the naked eye, don’t seem to be offside.
Yet, when those in the VAR room get their protractors, crayons, rulers and whatnot out and, all of a sudden, it’s offside.
Nonetheless, it’s a vital three points for the Reds, who face off against Leeds next Monday night, but before then, it’s the little matter of another heavyweight showdown with Real Madrid in the Champions League.
