Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano has stated that Bernardo Silva will stay with the reigning Premier League champions despite strong interest from FC Barcelona this summer.
Speaking to Tv3 via Fabrizio Romano, the City chief issued a transfer revelation that he and the club are done with their business for the summer, with the window set to close next week, as Soriano said: “There are no discussions or talks for Bernardo Silva. There’s no Bernardo case. Manchester City market can be considered closed, it’s over.”

City have been in Catalonia this week for a charity match with Barcelona, who have been linked with a reported £85m move for Silva throughout the summer, and whilst there is seemingly interest from the player to move to the La Liga giants, a move will not be happening this window.
Silva has been one of City’s most important players in recent years, and the midfielder’s decision to stay for another year will be huge in the club’s pursuit to once again retain the Premier League title as well as finally win the UEFA Champions League after years of trying.
Indeed, City have recruited well this summer with the arrivals of Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips, with the Manchester giants also recouping a record figure in terms of players sales with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko also departing the Etihad Stadium.
And losing Silva would have been one sale too much, even with reports of an £85m move from Barcelona, the Portuguese international is simply too valuable for City to be losing this summer, and the midfielder staying is a massive result for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bernardo Silva staying at City is bigger than any transfer

Silva staying in Manchester for at least one more season is massive, to say the least. The 28-year-old is regarded by many as one of the best midfielders in world football, and City selling the playmaker to Barcelona, even for a huge sum like £85m, would have been a foolish decision.
After all, Silva has been instrumental in City’s last two Premier League title wins, and selling the midfielder at the peak of his powers would have angered supporters and put Guardiola’s transfer decisions into serious doubt, especially with a leading man like Haaland now finally at the club.
