Former Leeds United hopeful Adryan’s career has stuttered again back in Brazil.

Two years ago Brazilian playmaker Adryan was coming to the end of his spell at Leeds United.

It was a move which began with so much promise, and at one stage looked like being a masterstroke.

Yet the youngster’s initial contribution could not last, and he found himself omitted from Neil Redfearn’s squads during the second half of the campaign.

He was not retained, and signed on loan at Nantes last season, and showed promise, scoring three times and playing regularly.

All of this time Adryan was under contract to Flamengo, and after Nantes were unable to agree a fee with them in the summer, he headed back to the Brazilian club hopeful of finally establishing himself in their first team.

It has not happened, and now his agent has come out and admitted Adryan needs to leave Flamengo permanently for the sake of his career.

Speaking to GloboEsporte.com, Reinaldo Pitta said: “As Adryan’s agent and a person who really likes him, I still see a future, but I think his cycle in Flamengo is over.

“He’s 22 years old, you’ll still hear about his name. Now we are only going to take the Adryan from Flamengo to a situation that is good for the player, take him to a club that has a good set up.”

The attacking midfielder was once touted as one of the best young players in the world, now it is entirely unclear whether he has a career left at the very top level.

As his agent points out, his reputation will get him chances, and he acquitted himself well at Nantes last season, so he will continue to get opportunities.
