Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing Harvey Elliott.
The teenage midfielder scored the decisive penalty against Derby in the League Cup this week, and Klopp has been waxing-lyrical about the youngster.
Klopp says that the player is incredible and that it’s obvious just how much he trusts the teenager despite his inexperience.

Klopp on Elliott
The German spoke incredibly highly of the former Fulham man.
“Do we trust him? I think it’s obvious. In the group he’s just like all of the other boys. With Fabio especially, but with Stefan, Bobby and Calvin we have a lot of young players,” Klopp said.
“He has to be mature on the pitch and, biologically, the rest will happen step by step. It was clear that he would take the fifth penalty and that’s a sign as well that he’s an incredible player and an incredible talent.”
Ahead of schedule
The thing that is so striking about Elliott right now is how far ahead of schedule he is for his age.
As Klopp says, this is a young man who is still growing physically, but in terms of on-field maturity, he often looks like a veteran.
The fact that he was trusted to take the fifth penalty against Derby this week speaks volumes about how much trust Klopp and the entire club has in Elliott, and he’s not let them down once yet.
Simply put, a 19-year-old shouldn’t be doing this for one of the biggest and best clubs in the world, but Elliott is that level of prodigy.
The teenager has been incredible this season, and it looks like he has a remarkably bright future ahead of him.
