Tottenham Hotspur can still rival Chelsea for the 30-year-old, amid false reports that the Blues have already bid for him.
However, reports straight from Italian outlet Calciomercato have claimed that it not quite the case, reporting that the Blues boss Antonio Conte hasn’t even made an offer yet.
Furthermore, Inter coach Luciano Spaletti confirmed that the Nerazzurri would listen to offers, should any be forthcoming.
Spaletti, who has previously denied that the Italy international would leave, told Calciomercato: “You never know what can happen if Chelsea really do arrive with an offer.”
Moving to Stamford Bridge certainly seems possible but if Tottenham really want him then the evidence suggests that they should not bow to their London rivals yet.
Spurs have the pull and the money to potentially hijack the Premier League champions’ interest in the 30-year-old who, according to Calciomercato, would go for around £22.8 million.
By doing so, the Lilywhites could avenge a disappointment of 2013 when Chelsea – then under Jose Mourinho – hijacked their £32 million move for Willian.
The West Londoners do have something of an advantage, given that Candreva played under Conte for Italy, but if Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat the reigning champions at Wembley this afternoon then life under the Argentine might grow that bit more appealing.
