Jurgen Klopp has more good news for Liverpool fans.
The Reds moved into the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday with a 3-0 demolition away to Norwich City.
Not only that, but Takumi Minamino scored twice to breathe new life into his Liverpool career, while Kaide Gordon made his senior debut at the age of 16.
A brilliant night all round for the Anfield outfit, but Klopp made it better with his post-match notes.
Roberto Firmino hasn’t kicked a ball for Liverpool in almost a month due to injury.
But Klopp revealed after the game at Carrow Road that the Brazilian attacker – a £29 million signing in 2015 – is back in training and that his return isn’t that far away at all.
He told Liverpool’s official website: “Bobby trained yesterday, the first time, parts with the team, so it is not too far away when he will play again.”
Depth
Liverpool haven’t missed Firmino one bit, it has to be said.
Since that 1-1 draw with Chelsea, the former Hoffenheim star’s last game, Klopp’s side have won all four games.
Not only that, but they’ve scored three goals in each of the four and remember, Firmino is a number nine – not a classic centre-forward, granted, but that’s his position.
And the fact that Liverpool are averaging three goals per game without their focal point is impressive and serves to remind you how much depth Klopp has at his disposal on Merseyside.
