Mauricio Pochettino has told Football London that it should have been impossible for Tottenham Hotspur’s performance levels to dip so much in the space of just three days.

Spurs had put in arguably their best performance of the season at the weekend, as they cruised past Crystal Palace 4-0.

That result was supposed to be the turning point in Tottenham’s campaign, but they were awful in Greece last night.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the contest, Tottenham never settled against Olympiacos, and eventually ended up drawing the game.

On another day Spurs may actually have lost, such was the dire nature of their showing.

And Pochettino admits that he was very frustrated with what his saw from his players yesterday evening.

“It’s not only the responsibility of one person,” he said. “It’s everyone’s responsibility and it’s not possible to, in three days, how we start the game today be a massive difference. That is my disappointment.

“I feel disappointed for everyone. Of course we can say after that we scored twice and maybe in the second half we played better, but I think from the beginning of this season we are conceding a lot of chances, a lot of goals and we need to change that way.”

Tottenham will now want to prove that their performance against Olympiacos was just a blip, rather than the norm this season.

Spurs take on Leicester City on Saturday, and only a much improved display will see Pochettino’s side have any chance of collecting three points.
