Tim Sherwood told Optus Sport that the Tottenham dressing room ‘won’t be happy’ with their teammate Hugo Lloris following his comments on Thursday.
It has all come crashing down during the past week for Tottenham – losing to their North London rivals and then departing the Europa League in spectacular fashion.
After the game, Lloris, who is Tottenham’s captain, labelled his side’s performance as a ‘disgrace’, as quoted by BBC Sport.
Ex-Blackburn captain and title-winner, Sherwood offered an interesting insight into what he would think of those comments if he was in the Spurs dressing room.
“I wouldn’t be pleased,” said Sherwood. “Hugo, of course, thinks it’s okay for a player within the dressing room to come out and criticise his fellow teammates. It’s not okay for a manager to do that.
“A manager always gets criticised for doing that, so what’s the difference? You are all in it together. I don’t think there is anything wrong with it.
“You are asking me what that Tottenham dressing room will think about it. I think they won’t be happy.
“If it was me, going back to my playing days, I would be very reluctant to talk about my team (like that). I would let the manager do it and I wouldn’t have a problem with the manager doing it because he’s the leader – but I wouldn’t have been pleased if I was a player and I wouldn’t do it if I was captain.”

It was proven during Tottenham’s Amazon documentary that Lloris is an outspoken figure in the dressing room.
On one hand, the £12 million goalkeeper (BBC Sport) is right to call out the attitude of his players, it’s whether or not they find it acceptable that he does it in public.
Well, that will be proven on Sunday when they take on Aston Villa because if the reaction isn’t good enough from Spurs then it will spell serious trouble.
