Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Alexandre Lacazette has ‘done his hamstring’.

Arteta was quick to play down the severity of the Arsenal striker’s injury with most media outlets yesterday, as he insisted that he didn’t know just how bad the problem was.

However, he may have let his guard slip slightly when interviewed by the club’s official media channel.

“Lacazette has done his hamstring, it’s not good news,” he said.

“That’s why we rotated some players, because some players weren’t recovered yet. But we cannot change all the players, so it’s tough to see.”

The comments do not look particularly promising for Arsenal fans, who are still waiting to hear how long Lacazette will be out for.

The 29-year-old did not look comfortable as he limped off the field late on, leading to concerns he could be sidelined for a while now.

If Arsenal are to lose Lacazette for the season that will be a serious blow, as they compete to win the Europa League.

The Frenchman has been their most in-form attacker of late and with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang also currently sidelined, it will seriously reduce their striking options.
