Chris Sutton has said on BBC Radio 5 Live that Leeds United will not have a ‘second season syndrome’.

The former Chelsea striker believes that Leeds will not suffer like Sheffield United after a wonderful first season in the Premier League.

The Blades were brilliant in the Premier League in 2019-20 and were even challenging for the European places at one point, but they have now been relegated to the Championship.

The BBC pundit has added that Leeds have been lucky with the injury issues.

Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s not going to happen to Leeds, though, is it? I don’t sense a feeling.

“They have been maybe fortunate that they haven’t had too many serious injuries. I think they have used the least amount of players this season in the Premier League, 23.

“Other teams, they know how Leeds set out, they know how Leeds are going to play, but under Bielsa, it’s how you are going to stop that.”

Leeds have had injury problems this season.

Diego Llorente had fitness concerns for most of the first half of the season.

Fellow defender Robin Koch has also missed a large chunk of the campaign.

As Sutton says, rival teams in the Premier League know how Leeds play under Bielsa.

The problem is how they stop the Whites.

Leeds press high, work hard, and are simply relentless throughout the 90 minutes.

True, Leeds concede a lot of goals, but they also score and never give up.

Remember what happened against Arsenal despite their defeat?

Remember how they won against Manchester City with just 10 men?

It is very likely that Leeds will be more like Wolverhampton Wanderers than like Sheffield United next season.
