Gaetano Castrovilli has set his sights on earning a new contract with Fiorentina after catching the eye of Tottenham Hotspur and Everton this year, as he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
One of many exciting homegrown talents to emerge in Italian football during the Roberto Mancini era, the fleet-footed 23-year-old models his game on Kevin de Bruyne.
In Fiorentina’s most recent Serie A clash, Castrovilli produced a performance the Manchester City talisman would have been proud to call his own.
Not only did the attacking midfielder produce a sublime assist for Nikola Milenkovic’s goal, he also fired home two clinical finishes from inside the penalty area, taking his tally to four goals in just five league appearances in 2020/21.
It was the sort of display which explains why Tottenham have taken a serious interest in a man who looks every-inch a readymade Christian Eriksen replacement. Spurs have allegedly sent scouts to watch the £42 million-rated Castrovilli (FCInterNews).
Calciomercato, meanwhile, reported in May that Carlo Ancelotti was keen on bringing the former Bari starlet to Everton.
But, while he still has four years remaining on his contract, Castrovilli could soon be rewarded for his stellar showings with improved terms.

“My dream is to play in Europe with Fiorentina. It’s nice that the top clubs have shown appreciation but I only think of the Viola,” he said.
“Can I renew (my contract) until 2025? I’d like to. I’m fine in Florence, Fiorentina is like a family for me, so if the opportunity arises, I would certainly be happy (to sign a new deal).”
Ancelotti and Mourinho will need to be at their most charming, then, if they still plan to lure Castrovilli to England.
