And it seems that some Magpies supporters are now hoping that Saul could be the first signing under their prospective buyers.
If Saul was brought to Newcastle it would certainly be an eye-catching signing, but it seems a highly unlikely transfer at the moment.
Even if Newcastle do become one of the richest clubs in the world, landing Saul could be difficult.
The Aleti midfielder is considered one of the best players in Spain, and has a release clause of £125 million (AS Sport).
