‘It’s looking more and more unlikely’: Journalist has update about Arsenal signing £50m star

Charles Watts has said that Martin Odegaard’s move to Arsenal is looking more and more unlikely now, on his personal Youtube channel.

Arsenal went into this summer trying to land the Real Madrid playmaker after what was a positive loan spell last term.

However, any deal is looking very difficult to complete after Madrid’s change of manager.

Arsenal are still pushing to sign the £50 million-rated Norwegian (The Sun), but as time passes the deal is said to be becoming more and more difficult.

And Watts latest update suggests that Arsenal are now very much looking at other targets.

“They are interested in plenty of players when it comes to the number 10,” the journalist said.

“For now I wouldn’t totally rule out Martin Odegaard, they want a number 10, and Odegaard has been the priority.

“It’s looking more and more unlikely as the summer progresses. Odegaard will probably end up staying at Real Madrid.

“But as far as I’m aware I don’t think Arsenal have absolutely given up the ghost in terms of bringing Odegaard back. I don’t think that’s happened yet.”

A blow to the plans?

That could be a blow to Arsenal’s plans, as Odegaard was clearly a player who Arteta rated highly.

The 22-year-old wasted no time in breaking into Arsenal’s team and held down a place for the second part of the season.

Arteta always spoke positively about the Madrid man, with Odegaard also praising Arsenal in the media.

His end product did seem to require some work, but Odegaard showed flashes of excellence during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

And it now seems that Arsenal may have to rely on blooding a new playmaker into their squad this summer, as they appear to be determined to bring in a new number 10, even if they are unsuccessful with landing Odegaard.
