Charles Watts has stated that ‘it’s not the case’ that Thomas Partey has asked to leave Arsenal this summer, with his future up in the air.

The Arsenal transfer expert shared that the 30-year-old wants ‘clarity’ from Mikel Arteta and Co. about where his future lies, with suggestions that they are open to selling him.

One thing is for sure, Thomas Partey wants to play with the Gunners in the Champions League next season, but he needs to know what the ‘plans’ are with him given these rumours, as Watts told his own YouTube channel.

A certain Declan Rice is joining from West Ham United for a British record transfer fee, the England international isn’t coming to sit on the bench.

Some might point towards Granti Xhaka and how Rice will replace him in the middle of the park, that’s fair enough, but rumours haven’t stopped about Partey either.

And amid all this talk about the Ghana star, Watts shared that he has been reading and listening to all the talk about his future this summer and he wants to put it all to bed once he returns to pre-season.

“Thomas Partey is seeking a bit of clarity, that’s my understanding, in terms of where his future is,” said Watts. “He is coming back this week.

“When he goes back, then he wants to hold talks with Arsenal just to get some clarity. He has seen the speculation. He has seen all the stories about him potentially going and Arsenal being willing to let him go. He kind of wants to know what is happening. He will look to hold talks with Arsenal.

“I have seen stories that he has asked to leave. My understanding of that is that it’s just not the case. He wanted to get Arsenal into the Champions League, that’s a big reason why he signed for Arsenal.

“Now he has done that, he would really like to represent Arsenal in that competition, but he wants to know what the plan and the future is.”

Risk if Partey leaves

Yes, Partey’s form fell off towards the back end of last season, but which Arsenal player can hold their head up high? Most of them crumbled.

That shouldn’t be the reason to sell Partey, if it’s financial, then there is nothing you can do about it.

But, if it’s to do with quality, then it needs to be remembered that he played a major role in the team sitting at the top of the Premier League table for so long.
