Arsenal legend Ian Wright has accused Dani Ceballos of diving in an attempt to win a penalty at the Emirates Stadium on Friday.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to Everton in North London after Bernd Leno’s horrendous own goal.

But there was controversy earlier in the game when Arsenal had a penalty overturned after Ceballos went to ground a little too easily after Richarlison stuck a leg out, with Jon Moss originally pointing to the spot.

And not only has Wright argued that it was the right decision by VAR to cancel the spot-kick, but the iconic Arsenal striker has slated the Spanish midfielder – on loan from Real Madrid – for his ‘horrible’ theatrics.

He told Optus Sport: “I think Dani Ceballos is guilty of this kind of thing. There’s nowhere near enough contact for him to go down like he goes down. It’s just horrible to see. Look at that. It’s nothing.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta cut a furious figure on the touchline but really, the North Londoners only have themselves to blame.

Arteta’s side simply aren’t good enough and although they were missing some big players – like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette – they have still struggled even with their high-profile names in the first XI this season.
