Gary Lineker has been speaking to Sky Sports about Harry Kane, after the Tottenham talisman scored his 50th goal for England.
What’s the story?
Well, the £200,000-a-week Spurs man scored his 50th goal for the Three Lions in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Germany, as he confidently slotted a penalty beyond Manuel Neuer.
In doing so, Kane is now just three goals away from equalling Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 goals for England, although Lineker is expecting him to go far beyond that number.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 61-year-old said: “Oh yeah, it’s inevitable. Harry is a wonderful goalscorer, and I think he’ll go way past Wayne Rooney.”
We can’t disagree. At the age of just 28, Kane still has plenty of time left in his career to score goals for England.
In fact, we expect the Tottenham No.10 to set the record to an unreachable level by the time he retires, especially with the likes of Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka and Mason Mount supplying him with chances.
In our view, Kane could even become England’s all-time top scorer before the end of the month, with Gareth Southgate still needing to prepare his side for UEFA Nations League clashes with Italy and Hungary.
With his immense talent, Kane could quite easily hit four goals across those two games.

Earlier today, the Daily Mail claimed that Kane could stay at Spurs for the remainder of his career, as he is now loving life in N17 following the arrival of Antonio Conte.
If that is the case, then we see no reason why he cannot finish his career as both England and the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer.
As things stand, Kane is already Tottenham’s all-time top scorer with 247 goals to his name, and he is also 77 goals away from Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals.
77 goals may seem like a lot, but at the rate Kane scores – he has netted 17 league goals or more in every season since 2014 – it feels like a matter of when, not if, in terms of him breaking the record.
Whatever happens, Kane has already written his name into the football record books at the age of just 28, and there is so much more to come.
