Tim Sherwood told the Weekend Preview that ‘it’s incredible’ that Mikel Arteta is getting ‘a lot of credit’ for leaving Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil out of his Arsenal plans.
The Sky Sports pundit cannot understand why Arteta has been praised for such decisions at Arsenal, which are now seemingly coming back to haunt him.
Both players are still on the books at Arsenal, with Guendouzi shipped out on loan to Hertha Berlin in Germany this season because of his actions against Brighton last term and Ozil still training with the squad, but not part of the Arsenal 25.
If Arsenal weren’t struggling in the bottom half of the table then the names of the above two players wouldn’t even be mentioned, but as Sherwood touched upon it, they are being talked about a lot now.
“We have run out of energy for that [talking about Ozil snub],” said Sherwood. “But it’s so glaringly obvious
“I mean Mikel got a lot of credit, didn’t he? For leaving out Guendouzi by making a stand after the Brighton game. Then leaving out Ozil.
“Credit for what?! Credit for leaving out your best player at the football club and the most expensive asset you have. It’s incredible.”

Well, it seems as though Guendouzi sent a message to Arsenal on Saturday when he struck a brilliant goal for Hertha Berlin.
A negative result against Burnley on Sunday evening then fans will use another stick to beat Arteta with because their midfield has been one of their biggest issues.
Thomas Partey has made the difference in the middle of the park, but the midfield aggressor is out with an injury, so the luck isn’t even on Arteta’s side in that regard.
