Speaking on his podcast, Glenn Hoddle has been speaking about what we can expect from Leeds United next season, claiming that they could be aiming for a Europa League spot.

Leeds have been the surprise package of the Premier League this term, securing a top-half finish and playing some incredible football along the way.

Almost every pundit in the country has been blown away by what Leeds have brought to the table this term, and Hoddle believes that they could go even further next season.

“They can get caught on the break, but their fitness levels are marvellous and they’ve made the Premier League even better, they really have,” Hoddle said.

“I think next year, you know, once you’ve set a standard it’s hard to maintain it, it’s harder, but I think they’ll have one eye on Europe you know, that’s where they’ll be aiming.

“If they get a couple of players in and strengthen the squad here and there, they’re not far off and they could achieve that in the Europa. They’ve got something to go for and it’s incredible, and there’s some ambition there and when the Elland Road crowd is back 100 per cent, it will be a hard place to go, it really will be.”

This is a big claim from Hoddle, but he may be right,

Leeds have been one of the best teams in the division since the turn of the year, and if they recruit properly there’s no reason why they can’t challenge at the very top.

Of course, whether or not they do is another story.

We’ve seen so many times that teams can suffer from the dreaded ‘second season syndrome’ and that’ something the Whites need to be wary of.

Leeds will certainly be a team to keep an eye out for next season.
