Gary Neville has told his self-titled podcast that he still doesn’t believe that Tottenham Hotspur can win the Premier League this season.

Spurs moved to the summit for a brief period yesterday after they beat West Bromwich Albion.

They were overtaken by Leicester City just hours later, but Tottenham still remain in second place heading into the second international break of the season.

There is building optimism around Spurs that they could well make a title challenge this term.

And while Neville doesn’t think Spurs will get over the line, he does believe that Jose Mourinho’s side do have an incredible attack.

“Tottenham, I said a couple of weeks ago they couldn’t win the league, and I still don’t think they can,” he said.

“Carragher said it would be the most outstanding story if Mourinho won the league with Tottenham and I do agree with that.

“It would be something that would alarm Manchester United fans, Chelsea fans, Arsenal fans.

“It would be one of the great stories because Tottenham don’t win titles. He’s got the forward players to do it, you think of the strike force and the goals – it’s incredible.”

A late goal from Harry Kane sealed the three points for Spurs, as Mourinho’s side continue to pick up victories.

Tottenham’s toughest test will now come after the international break, where their fixture list looks challenging.

Tottenham take on Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in their next three league games and if they can come out of those contests still sitting near the top of the table, a few more people may believe that they could be title contenders this year.
