Aston Villa fans believe that a win against Manchester City is on the cards after a surprising stat has emerged on social media.
The Athletic’s Gregg Evans posted on Twitter that Dean Smith has now beaten five of the Premier League top-six following Villa’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on the weekend.
Smith won promotion to the Premier League with Villa in 2019. And since then, the Birmingham club have impressed in big fixtures against the top sides in the division.
Last season alone saw Villa claim a famous 7-2 win over Liverpool, whilst Smith’s side also did the double over Arsenal.
With the Midlands side beating five of the top six, only City remain in Villa’s path if they are to complete the set. And fans on social media believe they can achieve just that.
Whilst Pep Guardiola’s side have been impressive this campaign, City have still had some underwhelming performances, namely against Southampton where they managed just one shot on target.
Indeed, Smith has impressed since winning promotion to the Premier League. And Villa fans on social media are confident on beating City to make it six scalps from all of the top six.
