Arsenal finally got back to winning ways against Southampton thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock.

The Gunners deserved to take all three points, and it is a moment of pride for the club to see two boys, who have come through the ranks, get the goals for a much-needed win.

As impressive as Nketiah was from the start and Willock’s composure was when he got into position for his goal, there was another academy product on the pitch who stole the show.

Young Bukayo Saka has now started all three games since the Premier League returned, and he has arguably been Arsenal best player in those games.

The youngster was extremely impressive against Southampton today, and Arteta is delighted with how he has progressed since he took over the club.

The Gunners boss was quoted by Football London (20:45) saying: It’s in his hands. He has a manager who has total belief in him and teammates who adore him. You can put him in different positions and he picks it up really quickly. He could have produced three goals today easily.”

Saka has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season

Saka could very easily have produced more goals today. The teenager already has 10 assists to his name in all competitions, something he wouldn’t even have dreamt of at the start of the season.

Arteta’s trust in him is brilliant to see, both for Saka, as well as for the fans who have been appreciative of the youngster’s performances this season.

It does look like Saka will continue starting every game in the league under Arteta until the end of the campaign. It will be important for the Spaniard to manage his workload considering his age, but if his performances this term are anything to go by, he doesn’t seem to be fazed by anything.

Both Arteta and Arsenal fans will be hoping that he will extend his contract at the club soon. Staying at the Emirates is the best move for him at the moment considering the amount of action he has been involved in.

Arteta hinted recently that Saka will stay at the club (Evening Standard) but nothing is confirmed until he puts his pen to paper.
