Michael Beale has been speaking to journalists after returning to Ibrox as a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Rangers.
The 42-year-old was asked about traditions at Ibrox, which is when the Bromley-born tactician revealed one change he would be making from the Dutchman’s reign.
What’s the story?
Well, Beale has decided that the Rangers players will now go back to wearing suits on matchdays, as he feels “it’s important” that the club’s traditions are honoured.
As quoted by Derek Clark, Beale said: “Some of the traditions are really important in terms of the culture of the club. The players are hearing this first, they’ll go back to wearing suits on matchdays at home, I think it’s important.”
Clearly, the man Rangers pinched from QPR is keen to stay aligned with the club’s values, which is good to see.
The culture of a football club is very important in regards to achieving success – just look at Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta ripped up the contract of his talisman and captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, due to frequent tardiness and unprofessionalism, which the Spaniard felt was going against the culture of the club.
Now, the Gunners are flying, sitting five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
Of course, we aren’t suggesting that matchday suits will help Rangers overturn their nine-point deficit on Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but in the long run, it will hopefully contribute to a long-term period of success.
Michael Beale needs investment at Rangers
While Beale should know how to get this current Rangers side ticking, having helped Steven Gerrard guide most of them to the Scottish Premiership title, he still needs some new recruits.

With all due respect, Rangers should not be relying on the likes of Scott Arfield as much as they still are, while they are in desperate need of some reinforcements in the centre-back department.
Celtic have made some fantastic signings in recent years, such as Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate – now, it is time for Rangers to get moving in the market as well, to give Beale the best possible chance of success.
