Real Oviedo coach Jose Angel Ziganda is desperate to keep hold of Leeds United loanee Rafa Mujica despite the striker’s lack of game time over in Spain, as reported by El Desmarque.
The 21-year-old former Barcelona youngster could hardly be blamed if he was growing frustrated with life at the Segunda outfit.
After all, Mujica has played just 34 minutes of football in the league this season. He has even failed to make it off the bench in each of Oviedo’s last nine fixtures.
Having said that, two well-taken goals in the midweek 3-2 Copa del Rey victory over CD Coria could be something of a turning point for the Leeds-owned centre-forward.
“It is important that Mujica wants to stay,” said former Athletic Bilbao coach Ziganda after the youngster’s brilliant brace.
“We have four forwards. The competition is great, he knows the possibilities he has and in what situation he is.”
While Mujica has struggled for opportunities at Oviedo, another Leeds youngster is making a far more positive impression in Spanish football.
Polish winger Mateusz Bogusz has emerged as a key player for UD Logrones and, speaking to Sportowe Fakty this week, made it clear that he is desperate to stay until the end of the season rather than return to Elland Road ahead of schedule.
