Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe that Jose Mourinho has accidentally dropped a clue about bringing Danny Ings to North London.

Speculation is rife that Spurs are keen on signing the Southampton hitman.

According to Eurosport, Tottenham are plotting a summer move for the former Liverpool marksman, who cost the Saints £20 million a few years ago.

Speaking to a press conference on Friday, Jose Mourinho refused to comment on a potential move for Ings.

And some fans of the North London club believe that his refusal to deny the speculation might be a hint about their interest.

The Lilywhites have always had a world-class striking option in the form of Harry Kane but since his emergence as a top player, they have nearly always had a paltry alternative in the form of Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente and now Carlos Vinicius, who has managed only 24 minutes of Premier League football since joining on loan from Benfica last summer.

And 28-year-old Ings, who has 36 Premier League goals in two-and-a-half seasons with the Saints, might finally be the player Tottenham have missed this whole time.
