Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after seeing a photo of Jack Wilshere training at London Colney from earlier today.

What’s the story?

Well, Wilshere training with Arsenal isn’t exactly news, as he’s been working with the Gunners since October.

According to the Guardian, Mikel Arteta agreed to help the 29-year-old maintain his fitness after his departure from Bournemouth, in a deal running until the end of January.

We’re now a third of the way through December, and after seeing Wilshere in training wearing an orange bib, some supporters think he’ll be staying.

One fan tweeted ‘it’s happening’ whereas another supporter wrote ‘he’s coming back’ as belief starts to grow over the England international’s return.

You can see the photo of Wilshere in training today alongside Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey below.

Whatever his fitness levels are, he looks to be getting more involved than Thomas Partey, who is seemingly shirking away from the challenge.

Should Arsenal re-sign Jack Wilshere?

In our view, there’s no harm whatsoever in handing Wilshere a pay-as-you-play contract running until the end of the season.

It would safeguard the Gunners from his injury problems, and would also give Arteta another option in midfield, an area where he doesn’t really have a driving force like Wilshere was.

Currently, the Spaniard doesn’t have much quality in that department, with Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Martin Odegaard, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mohamed Elneny his only options.

Of those six, Arteta doesn’t seem to have much faith in Maitland-Niles or Elneny, as the pair barely feature under the 39-year-old.

Wilshere offers something different to those six, and of course, his return would liven up the Emirates Stadium – he remains a cult hero.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the picture of Wilshere at London Colney…
