Ian Wright has told the Kelly and Wrighty Show that ‘it’s goodnight’ if Harry Kane leaves Tottenham for Manchester City.

The former striker thinks Kane is ‘ready to go’ and feels his potential signing would be the ‘icing on the cake’ for Pep Guardiola.

Nuno Espirito Santo has a big call to make today because, whilst Kane won’t start for Spurs, will he be in the matchday squad against the very same team that wants to sign him?

Kane only trained under his new coach for the first time on Friday, so his lack of sharpness or fitness might dictate that call.

But this is what Wright had to say about the transfer saga surrounding Kane during these final few weeks of the summer transfer window.

“If they get Harry Kane, it’s goodnight,” said Wright. “If there’s no way you can stop it, in terms of the fair play, then I would give them what they want for him.

“He’s ready to go. In that team, it’s goodnight nurse. The icing on the cake, on the cherry everything.

“And that’s what they should be doing now. If they aren’t doing that then it really makes me sad for Harry Kane because I can’t get into the vicinity of where his brain is right now. His heart and emotions.”

If Kane does feature against Manchester City, it’s going to be interesting to see what type of reception he gets from the home support.

The England captain has done a lot for the club but recent media noise about the player hasn’t put him in a good light.

Either way, if there are cracks between the Spurs fans and Kane then putting the ball into the back of the net can put that right in a few hours time.
