Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to panic over Folarin Balogun’s contract situation at the Emirates Stadium.
The highly-rated 19-year-old’s contract with the Gunners expires in June, and he is yet to sign a fresh deal in north London.
However, Football London reported that Mikel Arteta wants the teenager to stay, and that Arsenal are working on an agreement with the prodigy.
Balogun has only made four appearances for Arsenal’s first-team, but in those outings, he’s managed to net two goals.
Both of those have come in this season’s Europa League, as the New York City-born forward grabs his opportunity with both hands.
Based on the reactions below, some Arsenal fans are worried about another Serge Gnabry situation.
As Arsene Wenger told beIN Sports, the Gunners tried to tie the forward down to a new contract.
However, he ultimately left after making just ten Premier League appearances for Arsenal.
Gnabry is now playing regularly for Bayern Munich, and is among Europe’s best forwards. In total, he has netted 40 goals in 106 games for the Bundesliga giants.
Understandably, Arsenal fans don’t want something similar to happen again – it would be utterly heartbreaking if it did.
