Arsenal loanee William Saliba enjoyed a fairly decent comeback game on Sunday.
Saliba, who the Gunners loaned to Nice in January, helped the Ligue 1 outfit to a 2-1 victory over Nantes yesterday, playing 90 minutes.
This was the 20-year-old’s first appearance since being diagnosed with the coronavirus last month.
But it was a pretty steady return for the big centre-back who Arsenal paid £27 million for in 2019, even if he was partially culpable for the goal his side conceded.
Overall, Saliba, who only turned 20 on March 24, won three ground and aerial duels, and clocked a successful pass percentage of 81 percent.
And quite a few fans of the North London club were relatively impressed by his showing in spite of the perceived error which led to the goal.
Here’s how some Arsenal supporters reacted on Twitter:
Saliba’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is a matter of some debate.
The French powerhouse hasn’t even made his debut for Arsenal yet despite joining close to two years ago and after some negative comments about Mikel Arteta in the French press shortly after leaving in January, it remains to be seen if the Spaniard ever fancies him.
