Raul Jimenez has admitted to BBC Sport that ‘it’s difficult to score’ against a team like Leeds following Wolves’ 1-0 win at Elland Road on Monday evening.

Leeds were perhaps the better team in the first half, but both sides went into the break goalless and Wolves took the game to Marcelo Bielsa’s men during the second period.

Whilst Jimenez was fortunate in how he scored his goal, he did very well to deceive the Leeds players before his shot deflected off Kalvin Phillips’ head.

After the game, Jimenez also admitted that they were ‘fortunate’ to score, as he shared his thoughts on Leeds’ style.

“It’s always good to win at this kind of stadium,” Jimenez told BBC Sport. “We knew this game would be tough but we had the personality to take this result.

“In the first half, we didn’t find a way to receive their press, but in the second half, we played very well and found the space.

“It’s difficult to score against this kind of team. They press very well. Sometimes you need the fortune to score, it’s all about persistence.

“Leeds are very tough. They go man to man, we knew it would be difficult. After losing two in a row, now we win two in a row, it gives us a lot of confidence.”

The manner in which Leeds performed in the second half will disappoint their fans because they didn’t really create enough clear-cut chances.

Normally, the problem for Leeds is that they always test the opposition keeper time after time, but they didn’t do enough during this game.

It only gets tougher here for Leeds because on Friday night they will lock horns with another Midlands side when they take on Aston Villa, who are the only team with a 100% record in England’s top-flight.
