Jamie Carragher has claimed that Aston Villa are a club that do ‘really well’ at youth level, as he told Super Sunday on Sky Sports (13/02/22 at 1:55 pm).
The Sky pundit added that Villa are also a team that ‘definitely’ provide younger players with a chance to shine.
Jacob Ramsey is the prime example in the current team, as well as other rising stars, such as Carney Chukwuemeka, Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Louie Barry, Tim Iroegbunam, Jaden Philogene-Bidace and Cameron Archer, to name a few.
Some are currently doing bits with the first team, some are waiting in the wings, whilst others are shining out on loan.
Either way, with Steven Gerrard at the helm, Carragher praised the club’s academy and how they go about things.
On Ramsey: “There is no better teacher than Gerrard in making runs from there and scoring goals from there,” said Carragher.
“Aston Villa are always a club who seem to do really well at youth level and he seems another one off the conveyor belt.
“Stevie has gone in there. He has plans to bring big players in, but it’s definitely a club where young players get their chance to shine.
“If Ramsey can get anywhere close to that (Gerrard), as long as he doesn’t go off the rails, then he has a huge future.”
Ramsey’s name is the one shining bright, so far, but there are others who could probably claim that they have more talent.
Jacob’s younger brother, Aaron, is another one to look out for, whilst Carney Chukwuemeka is probably the one Villa fans are most excited about.
The composed midfielder is itching for another start in the Premier League, and in truth, he probably deserves that shot.
Villa’s midfield, as proven at St James’ Park, needs changing and someone like Chukwuemeka, as he has proven from his performances from the bench, should now start.
