Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been waxing-lyrical about Mohamed Salah after his incredible run of form for Liverpool.
Salah has been untouchable this season. He’s scored in nine consecutive games for the Reds and he’s done it in some style, scoring Goal of the Season contenders in each of his last two Premier League appearances.
Ferdinand, like the rest of us, has been blown away by Salah’s performances this season, and the Manchester United legend says he’s completely exceeded his expectations since joining Liverpool.
What’s been said?
Ferdinand was discussing Salah.
“The best player on the planet right now Mohamed Salah, wow, how are they seeing him over where you are right now?” Ferdinand asked Fabrizio Romano.
“I am from Italy, so I remember Salah when he joined Fiorentina then Roma, he was good for Fiorentina and so good for Roma, but I didn’t expect Mo to have this process with Liverpool, it’s incredible, it’s such a pleasure to see Mo scoring,” Romano replied.
“It’s crazy because I watched him in Italy, even when he signed for Liverpool, there’s not one part of me that thought this guy could have been one of the best players in the world. People now are consistently saying that he’s in-form the best player in the world right now, Messi and Ronaldo included. The way he’s scoring goals, creating chances, the whole way he’s playing, he looks like he’s in complete control of every situation he’s faced with at the moment, you don’t get many spells in your career like that, but Salah is in the midst of that right here and now,” Ferdinand concluded.

Who could have predicted this?
Ferdinand said he had no idea that Salah would become one of the best players in the world at Liverpool, but who could have predicted that?
Let’s be brutally honest, Salah didn’t thrive in the Premier League when he was a Chelsea player, so it would have made sense to underestimate him when he arrived at Anfield.
Instead of replicating his Chelsea form, Salah would go on to break the Premier League scoring record in his first season at Anfield, before following that up with another Golden Boot win in 2018/19.
Salah has been better than any of us could have anticipated and he’s been an absolute joy to watch for the past few years.
