Ian Wright was critical of Junior Firpo and Diego Llorente’s ‘crazy’ defending during Leeds United’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham, as he told Premier League Productions.

Another game and more goals conceded from Marcelo Bielsa’s morale-sapped, injury-hit and error-prone Leeds side.

This time Spurs, who were on their knees after losing to Burnley in midweek, turned up to Elland Road and scored three within the first half-hour.

In truth, Bielsa and his players are probably lucky it was only four in the end, but just like Liverpool in midweek, it could have been a lote more.

One of the goals included Dejan Kulusevski dancing his ways towards the goal from Tottenham’s right channel and Wright just couldn’t believe what he was seeing from Leeds’ perspective.

“Junior Firpo here, it’s terrible,” said Wright. “I have watched him and I am not very impressed by what he is doing.

“Once he (Kulusevski) gets into there (the box), Llorente, he runs over the ball. He doesn’t tackle. He is so worried about his man, he doesn’t actually try to nick the ball off Kulusevski. It’s crazy.

“He (Firpo) has to do more here, he has to do more to stop him (Kulusevski). Once he has gone inside, then look at Llorente, he’s not even looking at the ball. He is more worried about Son. I can’t understand what they are doing.”

Whatever and whichever way you look at it, Leeds’ defence is staggeringly bad.

At this rate, they have to go 3-0 down inside the first half to start their engines from an attacking sense.

That’s just relegate-me-now type defending and the signs going forward are very, very worrying if you are a Leeds fan.

Some will look at tactics, Bielsa, the lack of January signings, injuries or simply put, the players aren’t good enough for what the manager is asking.

Either way, the Yorkshire side are heading in one direction.
