Both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested in signing the Celtic Vigo front-man

Maxi Gomez faces the media during his presentation as a new player for Celta de Vigo at Estadio Balaidos on June 28, 2017 in Vigo, Spain.

According to a report from the Sunday Mirror (24/2; page 61), Tottenham are interested in signing alleged West Ham target Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo this summer.

Sky Sports reported in January that the Hammers were closing in on a £40 million deal to sign the Uruguayan, but a move failed to materialise, and now it seems that the east London outfit will face competition form Spurs in the summer for one of their key targets.

Which club should Gomez choose, however, Tottenham or West Ham?

The 22-year-old is now at an age where he will wanting to be playing regular football, and it is for that reason why he should opt to join the Hammers over Spurs.

If Gomez moved to Tottenham, he would undoubtedly have to act as Harry Kane’s understudy for the majority of his time in north London.

Should he join West Ham, however, he would certainly be their number one striker, regardless of whether Marko Arnautovic stays at the London Stadium in the summer or decides to leave.

Gomez has the opportunity to make himself an absolute hero with the Hammers.

Would he prefer that, however, rather than the chance of winning major trophies with Spurs, without playing regularly?

Much will depend on the Uruguay international’s mentality, but Manuel Pellegrini must do all that he can to convince him to choose a move to West Ham over Tottenham – it could be the signing that takes the Chilean’s side to another level entirely.
